Mashable has a great article called “HOW TO: Use Social Media for Lead Generation.” The article begins by showing companies how to use social media tools to point potential customers to their content.

However, social media can benefit companies in more way that by generating sales. For example, the article encourages companies to use social media to monitor online conversations about their own products and their competitor’s products. Similarly, social media tools can help a company provide customer service and to get feedback from customers.

The important thing to remember is that these conversations about your products and your competitor’s products are currently happening online. You can find them on twitter and facebook in particular.
